BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Canisius College officials say they are seeing a surge of incoming freshmen for the fall 2019 semester.
According to the college, more than 500 freshman have paid their deposits. That is an increase of 15 percent from last year.
“We have long stressed the high quality and outcomes of a Canisius education, and we enhanced that message by emphasizing our value and affordability,” said Ian Day, vice president for enrollment management. “This definitely resonated with students and families. We also implemented a number of new initiatives but a huge factor was the support of our efforts by the entire Canisius community—faculty, staff, students and alumni all contributed.”
The number of students from Erie County increased by almost 20 percent. Officials say the number of freshman that will enroll at the college will continue to grow throughout the summer.
Canisius College was ranked as one of the best regional universities in the Northeast by U.S. News and World Report.
