CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WKBW) — A woman was shot inside the Brazilian restaurant Texas de Brazil at the Walden Galleria on Thursday night.
According to police, 19-year-old Anthony Ciccarelli, of Tonawanda, accidentally discharged a pistol when he reached into the pocket of his pants upon receipt of the dining bill. The bullet grazed his girlfriend's leg.
"The couple left the restaurant in an attempt to seek medical care. While en-route to obtain medical aid, Ciccarelli pulled into a plaza parking lot at Walden Avenue and Galleria Drive where the female contacted Cheektowaga Police requesting medical assistance," Cheektowaga Police Chief Michael Sliwinski said.
First responders transported the young woman to ECMC for what Sliwinski describes as non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the gun was allegedly stolen from Niagara Falls, and was not registered to the defendant.
Ciccarelli has been arraigned in Cheektowaga Town Court on charges of reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a firearm.
He is scheduled to return to court March 11th for a felony hearing.
The judge set bail at $1,500 cash or $5,000 bond.
If convicted, Ciccarelli faces a maximum of 7 years in prison.
