CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WKBW) — Traffic was held up briefly on Union Road in Cheektowaga on Thursday, but it wasn't for construction or a fender bender.

A Cheektowaga Police Department officer held up vehicles in order to help a family of ducks safely cross the busy stretch of Union between William Street and Bennett Road.

The police department reports one of thebaby ducks had fallen into a sewer grate, and required the help of an animal control officer.

Twitter user Daniel Kasprzak of Cheektowaga was able to capture the scene.

Traffic resumed once the duck and its ducklings were safely across the road.
