BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Former congressman Chris Collins is expected to report to a Florida prison on Tuesday to begin serving his 26-month sentence.
Attorneys representing Collins have requested his incarceration be delayed since early spring due to COVID-19 concerns. A judge failed to grant the most recent motion to delay, which would have pushed Collins' reporting date to December 8, 2020. Attorneys also asked for a new sentence of time-served with supervised release and home confinement.
Collins, the disgraced congressman for New York's 27th Congressional District, is set to serve his time at a federal prison camp in Pensacola.
Collins pleaded guilty to federal insider trading charges in 2019.
