CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WKBW) — In an announcement made in Cheektowaga Thursday, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says the Buffalo Skyway needs to go.
The State is now offering $100,000 to designers, architects and firms to come up with an alternative to the Skyway. Cuomo says the Skyway is outdated and is not the best solution to bridge the Southtowns and the city.
The timetable is rather strict. Cuomo says the competition will likely take about six months. The state says it wants to start this redesign as soon as possible. 7 Eyewitness News asked Gov. Cuomo how much money the state is willing to spend, in response, he said "let's get a design first."
