BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — An improvement project at the Dunkirk Pier and harbor front is complete. The work makes an area once only available to vehicles a pedestrian-friendly destination.

The project not only provides improved pedestrian access to Lake Erie, but it also provides better connections to Dunkirk's waterfront trails, increases seating and green space, improves fishing and water recreation opportunities, adds new lighting and new signage.

This is part of Dunkirk's $2.5 million grant from Empire State Development's Smart Growth Community Fund. It's one of three major revitalization projects in the city supported by the grant.
