Empire State Winter Games torch making its way through Western New York

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Empire State Winter Games Torch will be traveling through Western New York Tuesday.

The 2019 Empire State Winter Games Torch Relay will first start at Canalside at 6 a.m. Sabres Alumni Derek Smith and the Sabretooth mascot will be on hand. The torch will then make its way to the Tonawanda Ice Rink at 7:30 a.m. The Empire State Winter Games torch will also make an appearance in Lockport at the Erie Canal Heritage Trail at 9 :30 a.m. and then at the Oakfield-Alabama School District at 12:30 p.m.

The Emprie State Games will take place in the Adirondacks from January 31st through February 3rd. More than 2100 athletes took part in last year's games.
