BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Erie County Clerk Michael Kearns is warning people about a new phone scam. Kearns says a number on Caller ID will make it appear as if the call is coming from the Erie County Clerk's Office. The scammer then asks for personal information, and offers debt relief services.
Kearns says his office will never make unsolicited phone calls to individuals, and does not offer the kinds of services that are being offered in these phone calls.
Kearns says if you get an unsolicited phone call from the Erie County Clerk's Office, ignore it and any voicemail that is left behind.
