BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — There are wine fairies, snack fairies, flower fairies,
And even essential workers/small business fairies.
Different fairy groups have been popping up all over Facebook.
"In a time when we all have to stay apart, this is a perfect way to be socially distance but also doing good for someone else," Julianne Protas, an special education teacher in South Buffalo said. She created the Wine Fairies of WNY Facebook page after hearing her cousin was apart of something similar in Rochester.
Neighbors are traveling all over Western New York, dropping off special treats on doorsteps.
"People are loving it," Protas said. "Just to get out of the house, and you're really making someone's day."
Here's how it works: You can "get wined" meaning wine will be delivered to your door. Or you can "wine" someone else, where you become a fairy flying wine all over the place.
"People are truly putting their heart and soul into what they are giving."
Protas says people are giving candy, flowers, snacks, all sorts of fun things. But there are a few rules to join...
"No negativity, no promotions, and it's basically just having fun."
The sense of giving has gone one step further. Protas has created this shirt with the saying, "Kindness changes everything," all of the proceeds will go to Feedmore Western New York.
"We can't be connected and this is a way to feel connected, make someone's day. You feel good about doing it."
The group has almost 2,000 members and you can find them on Facebook.
