CLARENCE, N.Y. (WKBW) — Fire crews responded to the old Bon-Ton at the Eastern Hills Mall for the report of a fire on the roof.
This happened around 10 o'clock Monday night. Construction had taken place earlier in the day, but no one was on site at the time of the fire.
Fire crews believe it was an accidental fire caused by the project transforming the space into a Raymour and Flanigan store.
The fire is now out. It was contained just to the former Bon-Ton location.
“We are grateful to the firefighters for responding quickly to contain and extinguish the fire and to the mall security officers and operations employees for controlling the environment. Both entities did so in a safe and professional manner,” said Jill Pawlik, spokesperson for the mall’s owners, Uniland Development Company.
