LIMA, N.Y. (WKBW) — An investigation is underway following a church break-in and arson that was allegedly set with a burning Bible.
Sunday morning, Livingston County Sheriff's deputies and firefighters were called to the Lima Presbyterian Church located on West Main Street for reports of a fire.
According to police, the church minister noticed heavy smoke inside the church when he arrived earlier. Inside the church were smoldering remnants of a fire that investigators believe was started by a Bible that was intentionally set on fire.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, Patrol Division, and Forensic Identification Unit are investigating the the case along with the Livingston County Fire Coordinator’s Office.
