TOWN OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WKBW) — “If you’re happy going through your life looking over your shoulder every minute, have fun with that.”
That’s the message to Danielle Cretacci’s killers from her family and friends. Cretacci was shot and killed in the Town of Tonawanda home she was living in on Ebling Avenue a week ago Tuesday. Her two girls, 11 and 8, were also shot but survived.
“The family wants this out there because they want these two people, these two animals to get caught,” said Thomas Cino, a family friend.
Cino is the Cretacci family spokesperson. He’s known Danielle and her brother for years. Cino is also a retired Buffalo Police Officer with nearly 30 years on the force. He says in his line of work, he’s never seen a crime quite like this.
“I never had someone in my close circle of friends get murdered,” he said. “I’ve also never walked into a scene where someone has been shot along with two young children.”
Cino set up a Facebook Fundraiser for Danielle’s children that exceeded its $7,000 goal before it ended on September 7.
“Danielle was a kindred soul. She was a beautiful person and a great mother,” he said.
Meanwhile, the investigation into Danielle’s death is far from over. Town of Tonawanda Police have released very little information. DA John Flynn says that’s strategic.
Danielle’s children are still in the hospital in stable condition. Cretacci will be laid to rest during a private funeral this week.
