BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Following an almost year-long investigation, a grand jury has indicted six people in connection to the case of a three-year-old boy, Noelvin, found in a box on a Buffalo porch last September.
The boy's parents, Nicole Plaud and Miguel Valentin-Colon, were found in a burned-out minivan in Buffalo's Riverside neighborhood.
All six of the suspects have been locked up on federal drug charges since late last September. Ed Drantch of the 7 Eyewitness News I-Teamfirst identified one of the suspects as Jariel Cobb in December. Last month, Drantch updated this investigation, when Cobb's attorney called a superseding indictment "imminent."
The six suspects are Jariel Cobb, James Reed, Jahaan McDuffie, Destenee Bell, Deandre Wilson and Deshema Clark.
The superseding indictment includes 24 federal counts. Cobb is charged with 21, including murder while engaged in a narcotics conspiracy for the deaths of Noelvin's parents and of Dhamyl Roman-Audiffred. Deandre Wilson is the only other suspect charged with murder.
All six suspects are charged with narcotics conspiracy. Other charges faced by some of the suspects include maintaining a drug-involved premises, and charges connected to the distribution of marijuana, heroin, and cocaine.
All six suspects pleaded not guilty in court Tuesday.
The indictment marks the first time anyone has been charged in connection to this case.
Noelvin was taken into the care of his grandmother in Florida following the deaths of his parents.
