BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — One dollar doesn’t seem like much, but a local hairdresser is sharing why it means so much to her and the people she helps.
Charline Minx just opened “Salon de Coquette” on Connecticut Street, but on Sundays she can be found in Fireman’s Park, in downtown Buffalo, cutting hair for the homeless.
Minx says a man approached her during a recent Sunday at the park asking for a haircut, but then changed his mind. According to Minx, the man then came back over to her and said he wanted to help out, then he pulled the only dollar out of his wallet and gave it to Minx.
“It’s just amazing. Somebody who has nothing. He’s sleeping under a bridge with all of his bags on his back, it’s just really amazing,” says Minx. “You’re out there giving free haircuts, trying to make them feel good and he didn’t even want a haircut. He made us feel good in turn.”
On Friday, Minx and her husband held a fundraiser to try and raise the money required to make “Haircuts For Those In Need” a registered non-profit organization.
Minx says the organization is always looking for more volunteer hairdressers to help out. Any licensed cosmetologists or barbers who are interested can contact Minx at haircutsforthoseinneed@gmail.com.
