BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Most Rev. Michel Aupetit, Archbishop of Paris, is calling for people to place candles in their window for Easter.
The archbishop is also pastor of Notre Dame and posted an inspiring message just hours after the fire broke out at the cathedral.
"Dear brothers and sisters, dear friends, thank you for all the many signs of friendship and encouragement that come from everywhere," Archbishop Aupetit wrote. "Thank you for the outpouring of solidarity, thank you for the fervent prayer that consoles our heart. Let us take advantage of this emotion so great to live intensely this week so decisive for Christians."
Aupetit proposes all people put a candle at their window before the Easter Vigil. It means that the light illuminates the darkness, that life definitely triumphs over death.
