TOWN OF WESTFIELD, N.Y. (WKBW) — A 24-year-old man has drowned after swimming in Lake Erie near Westfield, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office.
According to the sheriff's office, the initial investigation discovered three people were swimming between the break walls in Barcelona Harbor when the man drowned.
The victim has been identified as John Penhollow, of Jamestown. His body was recovered after a search by the Chautauqua County Water Emergency Team.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the Westfield Police Department, Westfield Fire Department, CCWET, Chautauqua County Medic, Chautauqua County Fire Police, North East PA Fuller Hose and the Coast Guard.
