MEDINA, NY (WKBW-TV) — St. John's Episcopal Church is Medina's oldest church. Built in the early 1830's with Medina sandstone taken from Orchard Creek nearby. The church is popular with visitors.

Cynthia Kiebala takes care of the business at the St. John's and knows a lot of it's history. She says after the church was finished the "Bishop came by canal to consecrate it." The interior is simple, but the stained glass windows are breathtaking.

What really makes the St. Johns special is that it was built right in the middle of the street. Church Street comes down behind the building and then splits off to either side.

The church's unique location caught the attention of Ripley's Believe It Or Not-and they dubbed it the "Church in the Middle of the Street". There's a plaque with the Ripley's information in front of the church.
