ELLICOTT, N.Y. (WKBW) — The New York State Police are investigating a deadly one-vehicle crash on an on-ramp to the I-86 in the Town of Ellicott early Sunday morning.
Troopers say around 5 a.m. on Sunday, 40-year-old Jeffrey Baker of Jamestown drove his vehicle onto the on-ramp at Exit 12. Troopers say the 2003 Pontiac Vibe was traveling at a "high rate of speed" when it left the lane and rolled off an embankment. The vehicle hit a culvert at the bottom of the embankment.
Baker died at the scene of the crash.
Troopers are working to determine what caused the crash. The Erie County Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy as part of the investigation.
