Journey from a crisis: Congolese refugees share the story of their scary journey to US soil

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — After 7 Eyewitness News shared the call for help from Jericho Road after getting a 250% influx of refugees -- you responded.

The shelter reports it received $10,000 in donations overnight to help with operational costs and food for nearly 140 people it will house, possibly for years as they receive a decision on refugee status.

Now, some of those people are coming forward to share their stories.
They tell reporter Madison Carter about what forced them to flee their homes in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and how they traveled a "death road" through multiple countries to get to the City of Good Neighbors.
