ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WKBW) — Two Orchard Park students have been denied permission to return to school by a State Supreme Court Judge Friday over vaccinations.
Orchard Park mother Marina Williams sought religious exemption for her vaccinated 13- and 15-year-old daughters. She was denied the religious exemptions. Williams is a member of the Temple of the Inner Flame Church.
State Supreme Court Justice Mark Grisanti said the Orchard Park Central School District gave Williams ample time to find alternative educational arrangements after it denied her request for religious exemption for her kids.
Williams says her children were being "blood tested" to see if they developed any natural immunity from infectious diseases, however Grisanti said she did not comply with the law showing the testing was taking place. He says she still hasn't provided any documentation that testing has been done.
Prior to moving to Orchard Park, the children had been enrolled in West Seneca Schools and had "no problem" receiving religious exemption for vaccines.
Attorney's for Orchard Park Central Schools say this all comes down to public safety, and they are pleased with the ruling.
Williams and her attorney plan to continue to fight.
Currently, her children are not receiving an education.
