BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Numerous landlords are preparing a lawsuit to reopen housing court to help them during the COVID-19 pandemic.
HoganWillig Attorneys at Law are representing several landlords as they fight for the same help they say their tenants are receiving.
Landlord Tim Walton said they are trying to prevent tenants form taking advantage of the eviction moratorium by asking housing courts be reopened, so they can hear landlord's cases.
"This whole thing is not a forget the people who need help. If you need help, nobody is sitting here saying I'm going to court to kick out the unemployed mother with their kids. This is we're going to court to get rid of the people who are taking advantage and let's hear about this case," Walton said.
Walton said several landlords can no longer pay their own rent and need relief as well.
