BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A New York City-based landscape architect has been chosen to redesign Buffalo's LaSalle Park. The park will be renamed the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park, and Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates will develop the design.
In a press release, the groups involved in the redesign said the Van Valkenburgh team was chosen because of their "philosophy on community engagement" and "depth of talent."
In October, the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation announced 100 million dollars would be coming to Buffalo to revamp the park and create a trailway along the waterfront. The design process will kick off in January 2019. There will be community workshops and engagement programs, as well as public presentations, which are planned for the spring.
