BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — 19 states are now listed on the mandatory quarantine list for traveling back into New York State.
That means for those who come into New York from one of the 19, the person MUST quarantine for 14 days UNLESS they are an essential worker.
Essential employees are allowed to travel in and out of those mandatory quarantine zones for work and, according to Phillips Lytle partner James Grasso, vacation as well.
"It looks like there may be a loophole in the travel advisory that may allow an essential employee to travel for personal reasons and come back without having to quarantine," Grasso said.
Grasso says that companies still have an obligation to keep their employees safe, so quarantining may be necessary for essential employees.
As of now, New York state is not checking up on people who are supposed to be in a 14-day quarantine.
The state has set up a hotline for others to report any issues.
The quarantine period begins as soon as someone leaves one of the 19 states.
You can contact the hotline at 1-833-789-0470.
