CELORON, N.Y. (WKBW) — A vandal has damaged two Lucy statues in Lucille Ball Memorial Park in Celoron. Both the so-called "Scary Lucy" statue and the newer bronze likeness of Lucille Ball have blue marks scrawled across their surfaces.

According to Town of Ellicott Police, the incident happened around 9 p.m. on Tuesday and was caught on a nearby surveillance camera. Police believe a blue paint pen was used to mark up the the face and chest of both statues.

Police are reviewing the camera footage on Friday and plan to identify a suspect. Police plan on charging the person responsible with the crime.

The newer Lucy statue has been in the Celoron park since 2016 when sculptor Carolyn Palmer brought her work to the park to replace the "Scary Lucy" statue that was criticized for it's lack of resemblance to the famous comedian. In the end, both statues were kept in the park.
