BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Buffalo man will likely spend the rest of his life in prison for shooting and killing a Buffalo woman and her infant grandson at her birthday party.
An Erie County Judge sentenced Kenyatta Austin, 28, to 64 years to life in prison Monday.
Austin opened fire on a group of people outside a home on Grape Street in July 2018 in the city's Fruit Belt neighborhood. Yvette Johnson, who was celebrating her 54th birthday, was shot and killed. Her 17-month-old grandson Kyrie Johnson, who was being held by another person at the party, was also hit and killed.
Two other people were shot but survived.
Austin was convicted in January on two counts of intentional murder in the second degree and two counts of assault.
