Medina man facing DWI, vehicular assault charges

TOWN OF SHELBY, N.Y. (WKBW) — New York State police say a Medina man is facing multiple charges after allegedly driving while intoxicated and seriously injuring a passenger.

Around 11:45 p.m. Friday troopers responded to Martin Road in the Town of Shelby for a one car collision. Police say 27-year-old Randy Wright of Medina exited the roadway and struck several trees.

Wright showed signs of impairment according to NYSP and his 22-year-old backseat passenger was seriously injured and airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital.

Police say Wright was issued appearance tickets and faces the following charges:

  • Second degree vehicular assault
  • Driving while intoxicated
  • Unlawful possession of marijuana
  • Other traffic infractions

Police say this is still an ongoing criminal investigation.
