BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — He has over 6,000 followers, dozens of mouth watering pizza pictures and a detailed critiques of Western New York pizzerias. We're talking about the man behind "Sexy Slices."
"I keep my identity close to home. I don't really let anyone in on this," he said. He's done two separate pizza tours with one in 2015 and the other is currently ongoing. Just 10 more weeks left for the pizza critic to put into a ranked google document.
"I eat a pizza a week for 52 weeks out of the year and then I take a breather because you have to or you're going to die," he said and continuing on, "So when it's over, I'll have 104 pizzerias ranked."
His process is simple: order a pie, take a picture as soon as it comes out of the over and into his car, and then immediately write down critiques for his review.
"I rank in four categories: dough, cheese, sauce, pepperoni, and then I aggregate that score to an overall dough."
Each category is equally weighted, but he says the make or break is the dough.
"It's the biggest mistake that all pizzerias make sometime is that they really under cook a pie."
The best part of it all? He says it's the people. "That's been the sweetness behind the whole thing is just interacting with people that run pizzerias. They're the salt of the earth and they're great and they're part of what makes Buffalo so awesome."
