GETZVILLE, N.Y. (WKBW) — Police say the crash that shut down Millersport Highway near the University at Buffalo early Christmas Eve morning is deadly.
The Amherst Police Department tells 7 Eyewitness News it responded just after 1:30 a.m. Christmas Eve to the scene of a rollover crash at Millersport Highway and Amherst Manor Drive. The car was heading north on Millersport when it went off the road and hit a sign.
The driver, a 24-year-old man, died at the scene. A 20-year-old woman was taken to ECMC with injuries to her face. Their identifications are being withheld until their families are notified.
At this point, no charges have been filed. Investigators are asking local businesses or drivers who may have security or dash-camera footage of the crash to contact them so they can piece together what led up to it.
The Getzville Fire Department, as well as both Amherst and University at Buffalo police crews all responded to the scene.
