SALAMANCA, N.Y. (WKBW) — A teenager reported missing in the City of Salamanca has been found. 13-year-old Xavier Peters had been missing since Tuesday night. He was located late Wednesday night.

Chief Troy Westfall of the Salamanca Police Department tells 7 Eyewitness News robocalls were issued in both the Salamanca school district and the Ellicottville school district, where Peters attends classes. In addition, officers in the department canvassed and re-canvassed neighborhoods in search of leads in the boy's disappearance.

"He's a good kid," Chief Westfall said. "He's a good student, he's very athletic. This is not something we'd expect from him."

Police have not released any additional details as to where the boy was found or what led to his initial disappearance.

Posts were shared on Facebook and Twitter in hopes someone knew something about Peters' location. Director of Operations for the Buffalo Bandits lacrosse team, Scott Loffler, joined the cause. Loffler added that Peters plays lacross with the Junior Bandits. The boy is seen wearing a Junior Bandits t-shirt in the photo provided by police.

It's unclear whether the many social media posts contributed to police locating Peters.
