BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Peace Bridge say they have seized more than two and a half pounds of marijuana and thousands of dollars from two Canadian citizens.

According to CBP officers, two male Canadian citizens traveling in a vehicle admitted to being in possession of marijuana.

Officers discovered the marijuana and more than $4,000 in Canadian currency during a second inspection.

“Our CBP officers work tirelessly to secure the border, ensuring that illicit items are not entering the country and our communities. We have a strong working relationship with our state and local law enforcement partners, which led to the arrests of these suspects,” said Acting Area Port Director Sharon Swiatek.

The marijuana and cash were turned over to the Buffalo Police Department. Both suspects are facing felony charges.
