HAMBURG, N.Y. (WKBW) — Mother Nature has not been kind to the residents of Hoover Beach in Hamburg.
Wednesday’s storm brought localized flooding and downed trees to the area that is still recovering from the Halloween windstorm.
“If it gets worse, we don’t know what we’re going to do,” said resident Bryce Phillips. “The last time I’ve seen a storm like this was probably 10 to 15 years ago, and it was only water coming up the ramp, nothing like this.”
Another resident tells 7 Eyewitness News that if things get worse in the Hoover Beach neighborhood, his family will have to evacuate like they did during the Halloween storm.
“Right now we just wait it out. There is nothing we can do with the water, it’s just going to come, we’re not going to be able to stop it,” says resident Robert Michienzi.
Sean Crotty, the Hamburg Emergency Manager, says there have been three incidents in the Hoover Beach neighborhood in the last month. The biggest of the storms happened on Halloween, which caused major damage to area homes and the break wall.
Town highway officials worked Wednesday night to maintain storm sewers and plowed debris off the road.
