OLEAN, N.Y. (WKBW) — Two people, including the victim's wife, have been arrested in connection with a Cattaraugus County cold case murder from 1997.

Tricia Carrier and Gregory Kerls are both charged with the murder of 24-year-old William Chase IV. The Cattaraugus County District Attorney's Office says a jury handed up an indictment Wednesday, September 18th. Carrier was Chase's wife at the time of his murder.

Police say in September of 1997, Chase's bloody body was found in the bedroom of his home on Route 16 in the Town of Ischua by his wife, who is now facing murder charges. An autopsy revealed he died of blunt force trauma. Police at the time said there was no sign of forced entry.

Carrier was arrested September 25th in Olean. She pleaded not guilty and her bail was set at $75,000 cash or bond. Kerls was also arrested. He pleaded not guilty and was released on $100,000 bail.
