ALBANY, NY (WKBW) — The New York Medical Cannabis Industry Association is hoping our state follows what other state's do when it comes to legalizing marijuana.
This group wants local marijuana companies to also be able to sell cannabis for medical and recreational purposes. The group believes that by doing this, it will help, "Create a robust, regulated, and equitable cannabis economy".
In addition, this group says by allowing medical companies to sell for adult use, it will do the following:
- Reduce the price for patients reliant on medical marijuana
- Provide greater access to licensed health practitioners and medical-quality products
- Ensure that pharmaceutical-grade safety and quality standards for all marijuana products are shared across the state
The New York Medical Cannabis Industry Association has more information on this proposal included on its website.
