NFTA: man killed in incident involving Metro Rail

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority is investigating a deadly incident involving the Metro Rail Thursday evening.

According to an NFTA spokesperson, the incident happened just before 8:30 p.m. near the Fountain Plaza Station.

The NFTA says that it appears a man was jumping between two rail cars and was killed.

Detectives are interviewing witnesses in the area.

The man's identity is unknown at this time, according to Transit Police.

The incident remains under investigation.

Traffic is affected in the area. The NFTA says rail service is suspended for the remainder of the investigation and is expected to resume Friday morning.
