Niagara County home invasion leads to shooting, one dead, three in custody

LEWISTON, N.Y. (WKBW) — Police say an overnight home invasion in Niagara County led to a shooting, one person is dead and three others are in custody after a lengthy chase.

Around 4:48 a.m. Sunday officers responded to the report of shots fired at an address on Mt Hope Road in Lewiston.

Upon arrival, the homeowner stated three armed suspects entered his house and he was shot and injured, he shot back at the suspects.

The suspects fled the scene and officials provided first aid to the homeowner, he was then transported to ECMC. No word was given on his condition.

A short time after, a suspect vehicle was located and pursued for a lengthy period of time by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, Lewiston Police Department and New York State police.

The pursuit ended on Lockport Road in Wheatfield and three suspects in the vehicle were taken into custody.

A fourth person in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges have been filed and the crime scene unit continues to investigate both the Lockport Road scene and the Mt Hope Road scene.
