NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW) — Niagara Falls was lit in purple Monday night in support of the hospitality industry during the COVID-19 crisis.

Destination Niagara USA says the Falls joined together with destinations across the U.S. and Canada to honor the hospitality workers who have been impacted by the virus.

The tourism industry is a large part of the economy in The Cataract City.

“Tourism is one of the top revenue generators for our local economy. During this crisis, the loss of visitation has hit not only the industry incredibly hard but also the community. Lighting Niagara Falls purple in honor of our dedicated and hardworking hospitality industry employees sends a message of our commitment to them and our gratitude for all that they do,” says John Percy, president & CEO of Destination Niagara USA.
