Niagara Falls police investigating officer-involved crash

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW) — Police in Niagara Falls are investigating a two car crash involving on of their own.

Authorities say this happened around 8 o'clock Sunday evening when a police vehicle attempted to avoid a Toyota at the intersection of Hyde Park Boulevard and Pine Avenue.

The driver of the Toyota, a 21-year-old woman from Niagara Falls, was sent to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center with minor injuries, while the police officer, a 31-year-old man, and a four-year veteran of the department was also sent to the hospital for head and leg injuries.

The officer has since been treated and released from the hospital.

Police did not release the names of the two drivers, and are investigating the crash.
