BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — City of Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown announced there will be a nightly curfew in place in Buffalo from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Sunday.

Brown made the announcement during a press conference addressing the violence that occurred Monday night following a peaceful protest.

Mayor Brown said the organizers of the peaceful protest had a start and end time, he stated those who remained there after were not there to address racial injustice.

The curfew does not impact essential workers, if you are an essential worker and need to travel during the curfew hours you are asked to have proof of your employment.

Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz also announced a curfew will be in place from 8 p.m. Tuesday until 5 a.m. Wednesday for all of Erie County.
