BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Eligible New Yorkers will begin receiving $300 payments next week through the Lost Wages Assistance program, according to the New York State Department of Labor.

New Yorkers who indicated on their initial unemployment benefit application that their unemployment was connected to COVID-19 are automatically pre-qualified, according to the DOL.

The program provides an additional $300 in weekly benefits. The payments will be for the weeks ending in Aug. 2nd, Aug. 9th, and Aug. 16th, and will be released on a rolling basis.

More than 2 million New Yorkers are pre-qualified for the payments, according to the NYS DOL. This includes individuals currently receiving Unemployment Insurance and Pandemic Unemployment Assistance. Those already qualified do not have to do anything, and will receive in email and text from the DOL alerting them that they're pre-qualified.

Those who need to submit additional documents to confirm their unemployment is related to COVID-19 can do so beginning Friday Sep. 11th online, or by calling 833-491-0632.
