PORTVILLE, N.Y. (WKBW) — New York State police are investigating a violent domestic incident that led to a trooper shooting a suspect.
Police say troopers responded to a residence on Yubadam Road in Portville around 1:30 a.m. Friday.
While speaking with the victim police say the male suspect, identified as 40-year-old Ryan Ehman, allegedly began to advance towards the troopers with a bow and arrow.
Police say troopers gave Ehman several commands to drop the weapon and he failed to comply, which led to a trooper shooting Ehman with his division issued firearm.
Ehman was taken into custody and transported to ECMC via Mercy Flight for his injuries.
The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending, according to police. No information is available on Ehman's condition at this time.
