Ohio man killed in logging accident in Chautauqua County

TOWN OF RIPLEY, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office says an Ohio man was killed in a logging accident.

According to the sheriff's office 46-year-old David Byler of Middlefield, Ohio was in a wooded area cutting trees on Klondike Road in the Town of Ripley Saturday when a tree fell on him.

The Ripley and South Ripley Fire Departments responded along with Chautauqua County EMS and transported Byler to Westfield Memorial Hospital and he was then air lifted to Hamot Hospital in Pennsylvania.

Byler died Sunday as a result of his injuries.
