One Buffalo firefighter hurt, six people displaced after early morning fire

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — One Buffalo firefighter is hurt and six people have lost their homes after a large fire early Friday morning.

The Buffalo Fire Department says it started in the first floor of a house at 76 Weyand Avenue around 3:00 a.m.

It quickly spread, turning into a two-alarm fire that destroyed the roof and heavily damaged the top floor of the house within an hour.

The fire department tells 7 Eyewitness News the Red Cross is assisting the six adults who lived in the house.

The firefighter who was injured was taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment.

Investigators say the fire did approximately $245,000 in damage to the house. They are still trying to determine the cause.
