7 News heard from a woman who said she called 911 at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, three hours before police said the fire was reported. She said she said she saw unusually thick, white smoke coming out of a vent of a house on Central Avenue. She said she didn't know the exact address but told them it was between Pleasantview and Walden Avenue.

Lancaster Police Capt. Jonathan Ziders told 7 News that they did receive that 911 call and provided the following response:

"I did go back and check our records. We did receive a call at about 12:35 p.m., about some smoke in the area. Our officers responded. One of our officers got there in about 3 minutes. They spent about 5 or 6 minutes checking the area and they couldn't locate any amount of smoke that pointed them to in origin. So they eventually ended up clearing because they just couldn't locate where anything was coming from. There was an odor I believe in the air but no smoke that was indicating where it was coming from.”
