TOWN OF ELLERY (WKBW) — The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly accident at a landfill in the Town of Ellery.
Investigators say the victim, 56-year-old Scott Deming of Westfield, was standing behind a large pile of garbage he had just dumped from his garbage truck at the Chautauqua County Landfill around 1:30 p.m.
The bulldozer operator at the landfill did not know Deming was behind the pile and started pushing the garbage into the pit, the sheriff's office said. Deming was hit by the bulldozer and killed.
No charges are expected to be filed.
