WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. (WKBW) — Pizza Plant Italian Pub is known for its variety of mouth watering pods. And now the locally owned restaurant chain is rolling out a new type of pod that you won't see on the menu.

'Bar pods' have made their debut at the Transit Road location in Williamsville. The cardboard creations, made by Korrugate It! in Tonawanda, are placed around a party of up to four people at the bar.

"It was kind of coincidental, because we were talking about coming up with PPE products," Korrugate It! general manager Jim Sabio said. "We weren't sure what we were going to be asked, and the first question was, "Is there anything you can come up with for the bar?""

The pods slide from left to right. While seated inside a pod, you will not be required to wear a mask, although the bartender serving you will have on a face covering. No standing or congregating at the bar is allowed outside the pods.

The pods are expected to be added to the Pizza Plant location at Canalside in Downtown Buffalo once that location reopens. Pizza Plant ownership has already seen a positive impact in Williamsville.

"It almost brings all the comforts back to the pre-quarantine days," vice president Dan Syracuse said/ "THe parties are restricted to the limited size that's allowed right now, so it's working great."

Korrugate It! is working with Buffalo Brewpub and Tavern at Windsor Park to bring the invention to more bars and restaurants in the area.
