Plans for $30 million sports and entertainment complex near RiverWorks unveiled

Complex would bring an estimated 400-500 jobs to Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Plans were unveiled by Buffalo-based OnCore Golf Technology Inc., for a sports and entertainment complex on Kelly Island along the Buffalo River Friday morning.

OnCore has partnered with the founder of RiverWorks Doug Swift, and Joe Carubba former CEO of Carubba Collison, to bring the "first-of-its-kind" sports and entertainment complex to Buffalo.

The complex will feature a three-tiered golf driving range, 120-160 hotel rooms along with banquet, event and meeting spaces.

Estimated cost of the project is $30 million and could bring an estimated 400-500 jobs to Buffalo, it is scheduled to open in 2021.

OnCore is also exploring options for additional sports entertainment options which include year-round indoor surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding. As well as simulated basketball, baseball, hockey and archery competitions.

The general public is invited to an informational meeting on October 9th at 6 p.m. at the Old First Ward Community Center.
