BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Buffalo Police and EMS are currently responded to a situation at PS 79 the Pfc. William Grabiarz School of Excellence.
First responders were called to the school on Lawn Avenue just after noon on Thursday.
According to Buffalo Police, a 13-year-old student discharged a can of pepper spray inside of a classroom full of students.
Authorities say it appears at this time none of the students were directly sprayed but some students were affected by the mist of the fog.
Paramedics treated a number of students as well as a teacher at the scene. None of the injuries were serious.
The school was placed under shelter in place for about an hour before the school returned to normal operations. The incident will remain under investigation.
District officials say that The Code of Conduct’s disciplinary expectations were adhered to.
