TOWN OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WKBW) — Police are searching for a suspect or a group of suspects in connection with at least 11 armed robberies. They have all taken place over the last three weeks in Erie and Niagara Counties.
Police from the Town of Tonawanda, Amherst, Niagara Falls, Village of Kenmore, and Niagara County Sheriff’s Department are all working to identify and catch the suspect in armed robberies of gas stations and convenience stores across the area.
The most recent robbery took place in the Town of Tonawanda Monday evening. A man wearing a dark hoodie and a black ski mask and entered a Red Apple store with a handgun on Delaware Avenue at 7:30 p.m. The robber demanded cash. Police say the same man robbed a Sunoco gas station on Niagara Falls Boulevard Monday morning just after 6:30.
"What it states to me is someone is desperate and that they are repeating the same crime over and over again," Lieutenant Thomas Hayes of the Town of Tonawanda Police Department said.
Police ask if you know who the suspect is to call the Town of Tonawanda Police Criminal Investigation Bureau at 716-879-6633. You can also call the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department at 716-438-3327.
