BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Buffalo Police announced a tragic one vehicle rollover crash where four people were killed on Monday.
"This is a horrific accident and this is an active investigation right now," Erie County District Attorney John Flynn said.
The one-vehicle crash occurred around 6:45 a.m. Monday on Route 33 west near Route 198.
"That vehicle crashed into the wall. Five of the six occupants were ejected from the vehicle," Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia said. "This particular car has a glass roof and five out of the six occupants were ejected through the class roof the driver was not ejected from the vehicle."
Gramaglia said the vehicle was stolen and there were a total of six people inside, all between 14 and 19 years old. Of the six people, the driver has been released from the hospital and police said they will be charged.
"Our investigators believe excessive speed played a significant factor in this accident," Gramaglia said.
One of the other five teenagers remains in the ICU, three died at the scene and one dies at ECMC.
Both Buffalo police and Erie County District Attorney said there's a lot of investigating yet to do.
The Erie County District Attorney's office is still working on the charges against the driver.
