BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — With a majority of Erie County in an orange zone, thousands are out of work. For most that means another round of filling for unemployment, others are a bit stuck.
“During the first lockdown, we realized that it was extremely difficult to even get unemployment for my employees and I as an owner get nothing which is fine, but it's really really hard to handle,” said Erin Moser she owns Crown BLFO, a salon on Seneca Street.
Moser is all for shutdowns to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“I'm absolutely 100% in support of it.” said Moser. “I would actually be supportive of even going into a red zone if it comes to it.”
She is not in support of business owners and high-touch service professionals, like hairdressers and barbers not receiving government assistance while forced to close.
“What we'd like to see is not only guaranteed unemployment for people that work within these businesses, but something for the owners, so our businesses don't die while we're unable to perform the services.”
She and the staff at Crown setup a petition, explaining why service professionals need help.
